Bad Korean, Bad Canadian
dual channel, quad sound video installation 2017.
Bad Canadian, Bad Korean was my final research project for my gender studies degree. My thesis statement was how can I use contemporary art self portraiture to destabilize the white heteronormative. This work has three parts and is a total of 21 minutes. In Part 1, I explore past experiences in which I use and think about the terms Bad Korean and Bad Canadian. Part 2, explores my relationships with my close friends in Canada in navigating our identities on unceded territories. And lastly part 3 shares an interview with my mom in investigating how she came to be in Canada. This is an Installation shot of Part II. Fifty Fifty Arts Collective. Victoria. 2017.
